The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) is the nation’s largest, oldest, and most successful minority higher education assistance organization. Since 1985, the UNCF Scholarships and Grants Administration office has awarded in scholarship assistance over $105 million to over 28,000 students enrolled in its 39 member colleges and universities and other HBCUs and majority institutions as well. The United Negro College Fund has partnerships with fortune 500 companies that provide scholarships and internship opportunities to students who attend HBCUs. Some companies pay interns between $25.00 to $27.00 dollars an hour, and award students a $10.000 scholarship upon successful completion of the internship. Divine Christian Gifts is a Christian retail store that delivers Christian merchandise and services to Christians. Their mission is to spread the word of God through their merchandise. They sell Christian fine art prints, jewelry, T-shirts, hats, books, music and accessories. They also customize t-shirts and calendars. Divine Christian Gifts specialize in helping churches, Christian Schools and small businesses increase their monthly income and exposure through its programs. Covenant Community Capital Corporation, founded in 1998, is a nonprofit organization in Houston, Texas, that seeks to enhance the beauty, safety, and economic vitality of low-income communities by increasing their capacity to develop affordable housing, grow business enterprises, and build family and community assets. Covenant Smart-Savings Program is a special matched-savings account program designed to help low-to-moderate-income families and individuals in Houston to establish a pattern of regular savings and, ultimately, purchase a "productive asset”. College students’ income is low; therefore, they should quality as low-income to be accepted into this program. Smart-Savings participants may use their savings and match money towards any of three productive assets: a home, a small business, or a post-secondary education. Participants' deposits are held at Compass Bank and Wells Fargo Bank and are matched using both private and public sources (The United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast, the McAuley Institute, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the City of Houston). Texas Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials is a professional membership organization consisting of agencies, and individuals who administer housing and community development in the state of Texas. NAHRO is the leading housing and community development advocate for provision of adequate and affordable housing and strong, viable communities for all Americans, particularity those with low and moderate incomes. TXNAHRO provides annual scholarships each year to deserving students, graduating from high school, whose families are public housing residents or section 8 clients. Thurgood Marshall College Fund is the only national organization to provide merit scholarships, programmatic and capacity building support to 47 public HBCUs. Since their inception, TMCF has provided more than $68 million in scholarships and programmatic support to students. Scholarships are only awarded per semester based on available funding. Thurgood Marshall College Fund scholarships are not awarded directly to students. Scholarships are awarded to the student via the member college or university to which the student has been accepted.
